Herbert graduated from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. He served in the United States Army and was a WWII Veteran. He was married to the former Alice Walters for 62 wonderful years and together had four children. He retired after 35 years from the Federal Bureau of Mines as Chief of Sales and Distribution for Amarillo Helium Operations. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family.Preceded in death by his three sisters; and six brothers.Survived by his wife, Alice Gerstner; his two daughters, Jane Alexander and husband Jim Sr., Mary Wingate and husband Bryan; his two sons, Herbert T. Gerstner and wife, Gloria, Michael Gerstner and wife, Suzanne; eight grandchildren, Jim, Shanna, Melissa, Jenna, Heather, Amber, Christopher, and Jennifer; and three great-grandchildren, Leo, Allie, and Addison.Memorials are to be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
