It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Herbert Charles Sutton of Amarillo, Texas on August 17, 2024 at age 94. Herb was born in Augusta, Wisconsin and came to Amarillo in the Air Force during the Korean War. He met the love of his life and wife, Gwen Coble Sutton at First Presbyterian Church where they were married in 1957.
Herb owned Automotive Automatic on Lipscomb and served the community as a master mechanic for 30 years. He could be seen at the Amarillo Speed Bowl in the early 60s with winning car #69. He served as president of the Amarillo Garageman’s Association. Retirement found him trout fishing in the mountains of Colorado and woodworking. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.
Herb was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen Coble Sutton; daughter, Julie Sutton; parents Erwin and Lucille Barka Sutton; brother, Leland Sutton of Augusta, WI; and sister, Jeanette Sutton Williams of Minneapolis, MN.
