Hollis Ann Hands, age 58, died December 3, 2013 in Amarillo, Texas after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7 at Polk Street United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM with Dr. Burt Palmer officiating. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, December 10 at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas at 12:00 p.m.. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.
Hollis Ann was born October 13, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas to Sebel Hands and Marjorie Landgraf Hands. She grew up with her brother, Victor who still practices medicine in Amarillo. The siblings enjoyed many of the same activities including tennis, hunting and shooting sports; both in their younger years and throughout their life.
Hollis Ann graduated from the University of Texas in Austin and received her Master’s degree from Texas A&M College Station in Bryan. She worked for Boone Pickens at Mesa Petroleum for about five years, before beginning her teaching career with AISD. She taught history and science for over 20 years at Palo Duro High School. During that time, she also completed three marathons and won various trophies for trap shooting competitions. She loved to travel and visited over 60 countries and 49 states with family and friends.
Hollis Ann was active in the Amarillo Opera and DAR. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m.
Hollis Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents. Survivors include her brother Victor Hands and his wife Caroline and their daughters, Hollis Ann’s precious nieces, Amber and Sara whom she loved and adored. She is also survived by many loving family members and friends.
