Howard Henry Birkenfeld

Howard Henry Birkenfeld, age 84 of Amarillo, entered into the gates of Heaven on August 10, 2022.

Public viewing will be on Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home. The rosary will be said at 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Schooler Funeral Home in the Brentwood Chapel a prayer service will follow at 6:30 PM.  The funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  The interment following the mass will be a private family service at Llano Cemetery, Amarillo. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.

Howard was born in Amarillo on February 1st,1938 to his parents, Dora Moore and John Birkenfeld. He married his loving wife Annette Eloise Aldrich on April 25, 1960 in San Antonio, TX. He attended St Mary’s for 8 years, Price College High School for 4 years and Amarillo College. Howard was a founding member of St Joseph’s Catholic church and was a eucharist Minister to the homebound. Additionally, Howard was a lector and he taught CCD at St Joseph’s Amarillo and at St Anne’s in Canyon, TX. Howard retired from a long career at Levi’s where he met many life-long friends. In Howard’s retirement, he worked at Avis where he was able to re-position cars from the different regional airports, drive the Texas highways and create new friendships with his co-workers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Annette Birkenfeld, son Robert James Birkenfeld, daughter Mary Ann Girgenti and husband Steven, brother Martin Birkenfeld and wife Loretta, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews.
