Howard Legrand Putts

September 7, 1935 — August 21, 2009

Howard was born September 7, 1935 to Arthur & Ethel Putts.  The family moved to Amarillo in 1940.  He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and made 5 trips to Korea aboard the USS Hannah DE 449.  He received National Defense, United Nations, China Service, and Korean medals.  He married Marilyn Lamb in 1954 & they had four children.  He went to work for Santa Fe Railroad as a brakeman & conductor.  He retired in 1995.  He married Ann Carlin in 1985.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Billy Ray and Sam Putts, his mother and father, and beloved sister Jerri Marie.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Scott Putts; Marilyn Hodges the natural mother of his two daughters, Penny Meadows and Sammie Carlson; two sons Johnny Putts and Robert Putts, Children by marriage, Cara Ehlert, Terri Burgess, Donna Nance, Scott and Donna Nance, and Sylvia Gaona; additional family, Cindy Mayfield, Sam Putts II, Susan and Gary Hemme; and fifteen grandchildren.
