Inez Genevieve Thompson

I had a great life, two wonderful husbands and two great sons and their families.

Genevieve left this world on July 19, 2020 at age 92, in Amarillo, Texas. She was born December 26, 1927 in Mercer County, Missouri to Carl Grimes and Veta Tuller Grimes. She lived in Ottumwa, Iowa most of her life.

Genevieve was married to Don Martin from 1951 until his death in 1980; and was married to Kendel Thompson from 1982 until his death in 2018.

She was employed by Lee’s Photography in Ottumwa for a number of years, was a 50 year member of Eastern Star, enjoyed square dancing and country music and volunteered at the hospital gift shop. She will be remembered as a fantastic baker and always for her love of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Don Martin and Kendel Thompson; her son Mike Martin; her brother Lloyd Grimes and her sisters Alma Grimes, Marie Brown, Mildred Cartwright and Violet Nichols.

She is survived by her son Jeff (Kathy) Martin, Amarillo, Texas; beloved grandchildren Rachel Fitzgerald of Iowa, Aaron Martin, Zachary Martin, and Trevor Martin of Texas and Brandi Edmond of Ohio; great-grandchildren Skylar Gonzalez, Alex Fitgerald, Solyce and Kristienne Edmond; sister Dorothy Adkins of Kansas, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She also leaves behind countless other cherished family and friends, among them Lee Ann Glade and Dawn Cadungog.

Services will be scheduled for a later date in Ottumwa, Iowa.
