Irene Jenkins, 88, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
Rosary will be said at 12:45 pm Friday, April 14, 2017 at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel. Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Friday April 14, 2017 at the funeral home with Father James Schmitmeyer as celebrant. Inurnment will be this summer in Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island Arsenal, IL.
Irene was born December 22, 1928 in Rock Island, IL to Alfons and Emma Ginneberge. She married Eugene Jenkins on May 24, 1947 and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage. She loved playing cards, bingo and dancing. She was a member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Jeffrey E. and Edward C. Jenkins; and her son-in-law, Dale Hoyt.
Irene is survived by her daughters, Sally Schoonover and husband, Bob of Amarillo, Dian Hoyt of Rockport and Valerie Heald and husband, Doug of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
