IRENE ROBERTA MURRAY WEATHERLY age 94 of Amarillo went to be with the Lord April 17, 2011.Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday April 21, 2011 in Carey Cemetery, Carey, Texas, with the Rev. Randy Wilson officiating. Irene was born November 20, 1916 in Childress County to Robert Murray and ClarissiaMcAdams Murray. Her parents were active in farming in the Carey, Texas area.She Graduated from Carey High School in 1934She Married Talma C. Weatherly December 24, 1935, in Childress andcelebrated their 53rd anniversary in 1988 prior to his death in 1989. They had twochildren. -.She and her family moved to Amarillo from Childress, Texas, in 1957. Sheworked for Safeway Supermarket as a store bakery department manager. After herretirement she along with her husband owned/operated a Phillips Service Station. In1975 she and her husband returned to Carey for several years where she was an activemember of First Baptist Church. They later returned to Amarillo where she was a memberof The Church at Quail Creek until her death.She was very creative with crochet, quilting, oil painting and gardening.She was a wonderful cook, with the delicious smell of baking dinner rolls, cookies orcake greeting you as you entered her home. She later loved working various types ofpuzzles and reading. The Bible was her favorite book, having read it through severaltimes and giving her favorite translation to each of her grandchildren.Preceded in death  by her husband; Son, Wayne Weatherly; daughter Beverly Weatherly Rodgers; great grandson, Anthony "Tony" Fraser; sister, Marie Murray Weatherly; brother, J. D. MurraySurvivors include: A brother, G.W. "Bill" Murray and wife, Imogene, of Childress, TXGrandson, Michael Weatherly of Needville, TX; granddaughters, Kealy Rodgers and Debbie Fraser of Amarillo; Robbin Lampkin of Abilene, TX; son-in-law- Andy Rodgers of Amarillo; daughter-in-law- Judy Weatherly of Amarillo; seven  great grandchildren;  two  nieces and five nephews.The family would like to express special thanks to Bivins Memorial Nursing Home staff and Hospice care of the southwest, for their kind and thoughtful care. Their love and concern was a great comfort to her as they considered her an extension of their family.Memorials may be made to favorite Charity.
