Irma DiSalvio

April 18, 1941 — April 7, 2025

Amarillo

Irma Martinez DiSalvio, 83, of Amarillo, Texas, went to be with our Father in Heaven on April 7, 2025. She passed at home, surrounded by family.

The rosary will be said at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 5:00 PM, followed by visitation with the family. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Llano Cemetery.

Irma was born in Mexico; she and her siblings, Araceli, Saúl, Jorge, and Lula, emigrated to the USA after the death of their Mother, Adela.

Once in Amarillo, Irma and her siblings began to adjust to their new life, including learning English and attending school.

Irma married had two children and started a successful business, Irma’s Alterations. Many in the city of Amarillo were grateful to her and her talents. Irma’s hard work and dedication allowed her to put both of her children through college at Texas A&M University.

Irma was the life of any family gathering. “If Irma was there, we knew it would be fun.” She was admired, respected, and greatly loved. She was determined, feisty, tough, generous, independent, stubborn, opinionated, witty, and sharp. Irma was a philanthropist. For many years, she would travel to Mexico to bring a load of needed supplies that always included presents for all.

Her example was a gift for all of us, and she will be dearly missed.

Irma is preceded in death by her mother, Adela Martinez; her uncle, Luis “Chef Luis” Martinez; and her two brothers, Jorge (George) Martinez and Saúl Martinez.

Irma is survived by her son, Thomas DiSalvio; daughter Robin Attebury, son-in-law John Attebury; two sisters, Araceli Martinez and Lula Neal; three grandchildren, Leia DiSalvio, Anna Attebury, and Bram Attebery; two cousins, Marsha Clark and Rafaela (Rafi) Grider, and sister in law Debbie Stone-Martinez.

Additionally, she is survived by Don Neal, Sammy Grider, Iris (Tia) Paulus, and our dear family friend, Concepcion “Conchita” Amador.
