Israel Santiago Castillo-Gavina

Israel Santiago Castillo, 46, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.

A vigil will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in Schooler Funeral Home’s Brentwood Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1210 SE 11th Ave.  Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Israel was born on August 30, 1971 in Amarillo.  He was a very caring, strong and selfless individual.  He loved everybody, especially his daughters. Israel enjoyed working out and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros.  He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Joseph and Petra Castillo; and four uncles, Joe Castillo, Richard Castillo, Jimmy Castillo and Santiago Castillo.

Israel is survived by two daughters, Vanessa Gavina and Savanna Aguilar, both of Amarillo; his mother, Dolores Garcia and husband Raymond of Amarillo; his father Marvin Gavina and wife Yolanda of Hereford; three sisters, Gloria Cabello and husband Juan, Christina Castillo, and Jo Ann Castillo and husband Eloy Valverde, all of Amarillo; one brother, Raymond Castillo and wife Sabina of Amarillo; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
