Jack H Hulsey, Jr., 79, of Washburn passed away Monday, October 8, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 at Lake Tanglewood Community Church with Dr. Larry Hickam, a friend and former co-worker, officiating. Burial will be in Washburn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Jack was born to Jack H. and Minnie Hulsey in Floyd County September 30, 1933. He graduated from Quitaque High School in 1952, where he was a member of the football team. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for a time. Upon returning, he met the love of his life, Charlene. They settled in Amarillo where Jack worked as a cowboy. They moved to Washburn in the mid-1970's and Jack began his 20-year career at Asarco. He was a proud member of the United Steel Workers of America. He enjoyed his family, fishing for trout, horses, watching bull riding and rodeo, reading Western books, and raising animals, especially his prized Blueheeler dogs that he bred for over 40 years. Jack was recently quoted as saying, "All a man really needs in life is a good horse, a good dog, and a good wife. I've been lucky to have all three."
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Hazel Brooks and Lucille Eddleman, and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Charlene; two daughters, Pam Brown and husband Bill of Howardwick and Barbara Jo Johnson and husband Bobby of Dalhart; two sons, Robert Hulsey and wife Julie of Lake Tanglewood, and Ron Hulsey and wife Sharrise of Canyon; grandchildren Tracie, Kristopher, Erin, Nikki, Misty, Christy, Kari, J.W., and Joseph and their spouses, 19 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
