Jack M. Parker, age 73, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 26, at Paramount Baptist Church with Dr. Gil Lain officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 27, at Eastland Cemetery in Eastland, Texas with Dr. Shawn Brewer officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home 4100 S. Georgia St.
Jack was born on August 15, 1941, in Dyersburg, Tennessee to Napoleon and Martha Louise Parker. He graduated from Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie, Texas in 1960. He married Linda Gayle Strickland on August 30, 1963.
Jack went to work for Texas Electric Service Company at age 19 in Arlington, Texas, and retired from TU Electric in Eastland, Texas, after 37 years of employment. He was employed at Sterling Monument in Eastland for 5 years. At the time of his death he was employed by Coffee Memorial Blood Center as a driver.
Jack was a man of tremendous faith, a loving husband and father, and a proud “Poppa Jack” to his granddaughters. He was an avid homing pigeon breeder and racer. Jack passed on his love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. He was a Master Mason and an endowed member of the Eastland Masonic Lodge #467.
He was preceded in death by his sister Emily Underwood.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda, of Amarillo; two sons, Jeff Parker and wife Anna of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Matt Parker and wife Valerie of Amarillo; his three sisters, Joan Reeves and husband Jerry of Arlington, Nelson Moffitt and husband Maurice of Nashville, Tennessee, and Barbara Pringle of Granbury; his brother Lloyd and wife Amber of Ovilla; his five granddaughters, Jordan Julia, Devon Olivia, and Durant Leah of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Zoe Elise and Claire Elizabeth of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Monday, August 25, at Schooler Funeral Home.
