Jack Michael Quirk

Jack Michael "Mike" Quirk Jr., 49, of Amarillo died Sunday, June 5, 2011.

Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Brentwood Chapel with Deacon Phil Whitson as celebrant. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.

Mr. Quirk was born March 20, 1962, in Amarillo to Antoinette Weinheimer Quirk and the late Jack Michael Quirk. He attended grammar school at St. Joseph Catholic School in Amarillo, and was a 1980 graduate of Amarillo High School. He was married to Camilla Taylor Quirk for 16 years, from 1982 to 1998.
Mike worked most of his young life working with his uncle's in farming and ranching. He started his career as an anhydrous ammonia fertilizer at Center Plains Industries Inc. In 1982, he moved to Baytown as a computer technician for Diamond Shamrock, then after five years transferred back to Amarillo. He was offered a new position as a fertilizer consultant at Bailey Flying Services in Dalhart. He relocated in 2006 to Amarillo and worked for Tractor Supply Co. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was a devoted father and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Mike was known for his effortless contribution and ease at any job, as there was little he could not do, and for assisting anyone with a need whether great or small. His adventurous life, sense of humor and fantastic storytelling ability will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Quirk; an uncle, Joseph Dickey; and an uncle and aunt, Ray and Eugenia Byard.

Survivors include his mother, Antoinette Quirk of Amarillo; his children, Nicole Reeve and husband Jody of Amarillo, who are expecting Jack's first granddaughter, Kinsley, Jack Michael Quirk III and Amber Davis with grandson Riley Quirk, Christopher Quirk and wife Beth, all of Amarillo; a brother, Bryan Quirk and wife Dena of Amarillo; a sister, Julie Quirk Wright and husband Terry of Flower Mound; two nephews, Brady Quirk and Cameron Wright; and two nieces, Halee Quirk and Jessica Wright.

The family suggests memorial be to Downtown Women's Center, 409 S. Monroe St., Amarillo, TX 79101; and Eveline Rivers Project, 314 S. Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79101
