Jackie Eugene Gray

Jackie Eugene Gray, husband and father of four passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023. Rosary will be said at 6:00 pm, Friday, January 27, 2023, at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 28, 2023 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington with Rev. Tony Neusch as celebrant. Private burial will be at Llano Cemetery.

Jackie was born in Amarillo on March 31, 1943 to Buford and Nellie Woodard Gray. Jackie worked as a surgical tech for St. Anthony’s hospital, where he met Barbara A Lantz, whom he would marry June 11, 1966. Later, Jackie joined the Amarillo Police Department, where he was promoted to Sergeant during his five-year career. Jackie then joined Pantex as a member of the SWAT team, where he would stay until retirement.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents and son Lance Eugene Gray. Jackie is survived by his wife, Barbara Gray; son, Jeff and wife Lisa Gray; son, Joe and wife Jennifer Gray of Oklahoma; grandson, Nathan and wife Chloe Gray; grandson, Taylor and wife Cristina Gray of Houston; grandson, Daniel Gray; grandson, Jackson Stone of Oklahoma; granddaughter, Nicole Gray, and great-grandson, Leo Jon Gray.

The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 South Washington.
