Jacky Cline Hicks, 81, of Amarillo went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2020.
Private graveside services will be held in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Jack was born August 8, 1939 in Bald Knob, Arkansas to Amos and Elsie Hicks. He graduated high school in Gerty, Oklahoma. He then earned a Bachelor’s Degree from East Central State College in Ada, Oklahoma and a Master’s Degree from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas
Jack married Susan Peters on July 3, 1959 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma. They were married for 61 years. They moved to Amarillo in 1961 and he worked for Amarillo ISD, teaching for 34 years. Jack was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a member of Hillside Christian Church and loved the Lord. He found a deep love in God’s great outdoors. Jack was a lifetime outdoorsman whose interests included hunting, fishing, golf, scuba diving, snow and water skiing. He loved meeting new people and was a constant joker. His love for life was unparalleled. Jack and his wife Susan enjoyed many wonderful retirement years of vacationing around the world. His loving heart will truly be missed.
He is survived by wife, Susan Hicks; son, Monte and wife, Angela of Amarillo; grandchildren, Cole of Amarillo and Max of Lubbock; sister, JoAnn and husband, Roger; and brother, Jerry and wife, Yvonne.
