James Ralph Birdwell

Ralph Birdwell, 67, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016.
Services will be held at 10 AM, June 1, 2016 at Amarillo Fellowship Church, 8425 Bell St, Amarillo, Texas 79110 with Trent Sisemore officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas 79110.
Ralph was born in Amarillo on May 26, 1948 to J.C. and Juanita Birdwell. He married Susan Bennett on June 1, 1970 in Amarillo. He retired from the City of Amarillo in March of 2015. Ralph was an avid model train collector and loved racing. He loved supporting his grandchildren’s racing careers.
Mr. Birdwell is survived by his wife, Susan Birdwell of the home; two daughters, Winnie Cuellar and husband Steve, and Carla Housh and husband Luke, all of Amarillo; one brother, Carl Birdwell and wife Beverly, of Allen, Texas; five grandchildren, Joshua Owen, Shawntae Benka and husband Chris, Matthew Cuellar, Timothy Johnson, and Abigail Cuellar, all of Amarillo; one great-grandchild, Lilly Marie Benka of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to Kwahadi Heritage Inc., PO Box 32125, Amarillo, TX 79120-2125 or The Blaze Coffee Memorial, c/o Coffee Memorial Blood Center, 7500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79124.
