Buck was born October 29, 1944 in Tampa, FL. As the son of an Air Force officer, he lived on many air bases in the US and Europe. This carried into Buck's adult years as fervor for travel to new locations. He had a special love for the beach, his favorite being Pensacola Beach in Florida. Buck loved all sports and excelled in baseball, basketball, and football attending Baylor University on a football scholarship. He married Susan Johnson on June 4, 1966, a short 48 years ago. After many years in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Buck moved to Amarillo to what proved to be a great community to raise a family. He has lived in Amarillo for 34 years; working for Ordway-Saunders which later became Willis Insurance Company. His love of sport and travel continued as he travelled with friends and family to play golf courses around the country. He was a die-hard Texas Ranger fan; rarely missing a game on TV and attending games as often as possible.
Buck was very involved in the community, volunteering several years as the chairman of the Independence Insurance Agents Texas Junior Golf Tournament. He was also involved with the Maverick Club, Ascension Academy and AMBUCS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Bovenzi; and a nephew, Michael Bovenzi.
