James "Jimmy" Downey

James "Jimmy" Downey, 77, of Amarillo died Monday, May 23, 2011.
Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St.
James was born Nov. 7, 1933, to Thomas Downey and Lola Davidson Downey. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1953. He married Karen Shand on Feb. 15, 1957.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Tommy.
Survivors include his wife, Karen of Amarillo; a son, Terry "Tad" Downey of Amarillo; a sister, Sandra Francis of Amarillo; several nieces and nephews; two grandchildren, Tabi and Ryan; a great-granddaughter, Autumn; and his special friend, his dog, Cricket.
The family suggests memorials be to The Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
