James (Jimbo) Thomas Ford age 85 passed away February 7, 2014 in Amarillo.
Memorial Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 10, 2014 at Paramount Baptist Church with Pat Ford and Rev. Lance Herrington officiating. Private family burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo.
Mr. Ford was born in Amarillo on February 22, 1928 to John and Velva Ford. Jim graduated from Amarillo High School. He married Dorothea Hoppa on September 26, 1953. James was active and a reservist for 31 years for the Navy. He loved his country and he loved the Navy. He retired from SW Bell/AT&T after 40 years of service. Mr. Ford was active with residents at The Continental and Moore Assisted Living Center. James was devoted to his family. He was a faithful husband and a faithful father. He loved life; he loved people and never met a stranger. He almost always greeted people by saying “God loves you and so do I.” He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Velva “Nanny” Ford in 1998 and his wife Dottie in 2006.
He is survived by three sons, Richard Glen Ford of Amarillo, William Lynn Ford and wife Jeanette of Weatherford, and Patrick Ray Ford and wife Kim of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Christy, Ryan and fiancé Rae Matthews , Austin and wife Chauncy, Bradley and wife Lindsey, Kinsey and husband Matthew, and Katie; two great grandchildren, Alex and Taos.
