James W. Gilmore, 87, of Amarillo went to be with the Lord at 1:15 a.m. December 23, 2014.
Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 29, 2014 at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
James was born November 1, 1927 in Orange CA to Wallace and Mary Gilmore. He was a roofer in Southern California many years and later worked for Ameron Corporation in the concrete pipe division. James worked for five years in Saudi Arabia as superintendent of the facility that made the largest spun concrete pipe in the world which the Saudi’s used to desalinize sea water. He retired from Ameron in 1989. He joined the US Navy and served on the USS Hornet during WWII.
James is survived by two sons, Edwin James Gilmore and William Allen Gilmore; two daughters, Pamela Perkins and Robyn Long all of Amarillo; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.
