James “Arvous” Guinn, 85 of Amarillo died on March 12, 2015 in Amarillo, TX.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday March 16, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Byron Williamson officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Arvous was born October 25, 1929 in Mangum, OK to James Abram and Katherine Guinn. He married Wendy Reed on November 18, 1976.
Arvous worked for Witt Builders Supply for 55 years before starting his own business. He retired in 2010. He was a master craftsman, meticulous in his workmanship, both in his profession and in his hobbies. Arvous delighted in building cribs, cradles and many other masterpieces for family and friends. In addition to his woodwork, he also enjoyed bowling throughout the years and loved to fish.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister Donna Wertenberger; a brother Arden E. Guinn; and a stepson Shane Daniels
He is survived by his wife; two sons Gary Guinn and wife Rita of Amarillo and Anthony Guinn and wife Ruth of Redondo Beach, CA; two sisters Betty Smith of Diamond Head, MS and Martha Bethel of Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
