James "Jim" Edward Russell, 80, of Elk City, Oklahoma, passed peacefully on January 22, 2025.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11 am in the Edith Ford Cemeteries located at 507 9th Street, Canadian, Texas.
James Edward Russell, or Jim as he was known, was born on April 6, 1944, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Clyde H. and Mabel (Roberts) Russell.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his service, he married Effie Green, and the two began their family. He supported his family working on drilling rigs from 1971 until his retirement in 2009.
Jim was a diehard Sooner and loved everything University of Oklahoma. He enjoyed golfing and found great pleasure in watching every sport. He loved sports so much that he even coached his children in their team sports while they were growing up. Jim had a strong passion for healthy competition.
Jim was also very creative. He spent countless hours using his hand to create things out of wood and then bringing them to life with his amazing painting skills.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Bob, Frank, Jack, Fred, a baby brother, and his pet Chihuahua, Kidd, whom he loved dearly. Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Effie, of the home, daughter Stephanie Bell and husband Billy of Moscow, Kansas, son Kam Russell and wife Caryn of Amarillo; and grandchildren, Landan, Madilynn, Camryn, and Kaden Russell. He also leaves nieces Pam Russell, Teresa Hause, and Jennifer Cavanaugh, all of Oklahoma, as well as several great nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
