James Alvin Pence

February 12, 1937 — December 24, 2024

Amarillo

On December 24th, 2024, James “Jim” Alvin Pence received the best Christmas present ever. Our sweet Daddy passed away yesterday. He was quiet, witty, patient, kind, and such an inspiration to so many. James was born to Albert and Tollie Pence on February 12, 1937 in Hodges, Texas. James attended Whitharrel schools and was a veteran with the Army Reserves.

James married Dolores Clem on September 4, 1959 in Levelland, Texas. The couple celebrated 65 years of Marriage this past September. Together they raised two daughters Charlia and Stacy. Their love and example serve as an immeasurable gift to both of the girls and their families.

At age 18, James began working at Addressograph Multigraph Corporation in Lubbock, Texas. Jim worked for AM until 1982, serving as a salesperson and even Regional Manager in both Midland and Amarillo.

James founded Diamond Business Services, Inc in 1982. The company became the first independent Dealership for Addressograph Multigraph in the country. James was also one of the original 5 founders of the Datacard System Dealers Association now known as the Identification Systems Group. This organization has grown into an international powerhouse in the identity, safety, and security industry.

Diamond Business Services recently celebrated its 42nd year in business, with his daughter and son-in-law running the company.

James was blessed with many dear customer-friends and always worked to be ethical and reliable in all that he did. His employees were like family and each of you were very special to him.

James and Dolores were members of San Jacinto Church of Christ since 1970, where James was as an Elder until his Parkinson's made it difficult to serve. San Jacinto holds a very special place to the couple, along with the precious friends that loved and supported them for years.

James is survived by his wife Dolores, his daughter Charlia and granddaughter Grace of Amarillo. His daughter Stacy and her husband Kyle, who was truly his son, their two sons Wade and Dean Randel, and his girlfriend Ali of Colorado Springs. Along with his very special Sister and Brother in Law, Ginger and Ross Sims of Levelland. His greatest joy was being POPS to his grandkids.

We cannot thank the caregivers at the Ware for loving our POPS. You made the transition easier and allowed us to have him for an additional year. You all have truly become our family. A special thank you to Tracy, Evelyn, Tonya, Taikita, Serfina, LaLita, Melinda, Joanne, Shelia, Katie and Cathy, and Kim(welcome him in, will ya?)

A private family burial, handled by Scholer Funeral Home, will be held and in lieu of flowers, we ask any memorials be made to the Sister-Bear Foundation, PO Box 30086, Amarillo, TX 79120 or at www.Sister-Bear.com
