James Robert (J. Bob) Pickens, 91 years old, formerly of Miami passed away October 16, 2009 in Canadian, Texas. He was the son of Arthur O. and Lou Ella Gore Pickens. He loved visiting with people and could visit at ease with anyone. His hobby was knowing the date of birth, wedding date, and date of death of about 200 people. He could tell you these dates without hesitation.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mildred Beasley and Ida Lee Harnly, and one brother, Kenneth R. Pickens. He is survived by one brother, Lawrence G. Pickens and wife Tennessee of Amarillo.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Abraham Edward Memorial Home for their love and care of J. Bob for the years that he was a resident there. He could have never received better and more loving care any other place. The unique thing about the Abraham Home is that the Canadian community is so involved with the home.
Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church, 201 S. Main, Miami, Texas 79059, or the Edward Abraham Memorial Home, 803 Birch, Canadian, Texas, 79014.
