James Eldon Thompson was born on May 15, 1943, to Everett and Louise Thompson in Seattle, Washington. He attended Boise High School, and after his high school graduation, he attended Boise Jr. College. James married the love of his life Norma Jean Hosford on March 11, 1967, in Boise, Idaho. James was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
James joined the Army reserve in 1965 and after his time with the Army, he joined the Boise Police Department in 1967. He served the department for 29 years before retiring and moving to Amarillo with his wife in 2018.
James is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and a grandson Kholton Royce Thompson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma; one daughter Andilyn Thompson; three sons, Eric and wife Jennifer, Mark and wife Melanie, Jared and wife Christina; three brothers, Everett and wife Sharon, Robert, and wife Liz and Donald and wife Lisa; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
