JANICE ANN WAGNER HOWARD
Janice Ann Wagner Howard, 57 of Amarillo died Wednesday, December 9, 2009 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, December 14, at St. Paul United Methodist Church with John McClean and Perry Hunsaker officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Janice was born February 6, 1952 in Amarillo to Melvin and Ruth Wagner. She attended Canyon schools and was an honor student graduating third in her class in May 1970. She attended and graduated with a Science Degree from the University of Texas of Austin in May 1973 with a Bachelors of Arts. She received her Master of Education in Counseling from West Texas State University in August 1979. She attended and received a Deaf Education endorsement from Texas Women’s University. She had plans to attend medical school next year with her son. She was a lifelong learner; she took course work in science and math from Amarillo College, West Texas A&M, and Texas Tech after her Masters. She enjoyed taking online college courses. She enjoyed searching topics and playing games on the computer. She was a teacher with Ector County, Borger for 10 years, Midland, and Hereford ISD. During her career she has taught Junior High Science (7th, 8th, and 9th grade Ecology), Integrated Physics & Chemistry (also known as Physical Science), Chemistry, Chemistry AP, Biology, and Biology Pre-AP.
She was a loving caring mother to her sons Terry and Robert. She assisted in their school and extra-curriculum activities during the school years. Janice served on the PTA at both the school and district level and as a room mother. She supported and encouraged them in their endeavors. She was proud of the fine men that they have become. She was also a loving and devoted pet owner. She was a member of both Tenth Avenue UMC and St. Paul UMC in Amarillo. She was a member of numerous educational organizations. She was a member of the Texas EXES at UT Austin. She was preceded in death by her father Melvin Wagner November 11, 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Terry Howard of Amarillo/Odessa and Robert “Robby” Howard of Lubbock; her mother, Ruth Wagner; a sister, Debra Wagner; and her beloved pets Nutty, Brutus, and Puff.
