Jean Bankhead

Visitation will be 5:00PM to 6:00PM Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Schooler Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday February 3, 2010 at Kingswood United Methodist Church 4801 S. Austin Street. A Private Family Burial will be held at Llano Cemetery.Mrs. Bankhead was born on February 21, 1929 in Santa Anna, Texas to Eddie and Jewell Schrader. She graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1946 and attended Tarleton State.  She married Herbert Bankhead on May 21, 1949 in Valley Mills.  They moved to Amarillo in 1968 from Borger.  She was a talented artist and took pride in her yard and garden. Jean worked as a seamstress for Levis from 1970 until her retirement. To occupy her time after retiring she went to work for Drug Emporium as a cashier. Jean and her husband loved to square dance. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert on March 14, 2009. She was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church and the Alderstates Sunday School Class. She is survived by one daughter, Pam Billington and husband Charlie of Austin, Texas; three sons, Edward Bankhead and wife Brenda of Austin, Texas, Bill Bankhead and wife Gaelyn of Amarillo, and Bob Bankhead of Amarillo; 2 brothers Darwin Schrader and wife Pat of Vernon, Texas, and Garland Schrader and wife Mary of Yuba City, CA.; nine grandchildren; Vanessa, Kevin, Tiffany, Tim, Brandi, Brittany, Brent, Jerrod, and Adina; and eleven great-grandchildren.
