On Monday, April 21, 2014, Jed W Humphrey was rescued and healed from cancer by his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. To God Be The Glory!
Jed was born, along with his twin brother Jay, to Charles and LaNell Humphrey in Tyler, Texas on November 12, 1954. After growing up at First Baptist Church, Dallas, he graduated from South Garland High School. Receiving his degree from Oklahoma Baptist University, Jed pursued post graduate work at Criswell Bible College. Jed knew that God had called him to serve and minister in the area of church music with also having a strong knowledge of God’s Word.
After marrying Marsha Meek on March 31, 1979, Jed and Marsha ministered with the precious people of Lakeside Baptist Church, Dallas; First Baptist Church, Josephine; Meadowbrook Baptist Church, Gadsden, AL; Sardis Baptist Church, Sardis, AL; Sunnyvale First Baptist Church, Sunnyvale; and currently at South Georgia Baptist Church, Amarillo.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles F Humphrey and his twin brother, Jay H Humphrey.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marsha Meek Humphrey; daughters Meredith Humphrey, of Amarillo; Laurelyn Adams and husband Franklyn, of Dallas; Lindsay Booker and husband Matthew, of Amarillo; his mother, LaNell Humphrey, of Dallas; grandchildren Mark, Naomi, Anastasia and Blakely Booker, of Amarillo, and many loving family members. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Harrington Cancer Center and BSA Hospice for all their loving care and support.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm – 7:00pm Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Schooler Funeral Home.
A Celebration of God’s Grace will be held Thursday April 24, 2014, at South Georgia Baptist Church, 5209 S Georgia, Amarillo, TX at 4:00pm, with Mike Martin and Dr. Kelly Warren officiating. The service will be preceded by an 11am burial at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be made to South Georgia Baptist Church.
