Jerome "J.B." Herrmann

J.B. (Jerry) Herrmann, Veteran Panhandle Oil Man, died peacefully in his home in Amarillo Texas on Monday, June 4, 2018.

A vigil will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2018 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington St. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m., in Llano Cemetery, next to his parents and son John. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Mr. Herrmann was born August 3, 1929, in Amarillo to A.E. (Ollie) and Almeada Garrison Herrmann. He attended grade school at St. Mary's Academy and graduated high school from Price Memorial College.

Jerry lived a full and adventurous life fathering and raising 13 kids on his Father’s oilfield camp east of Borger, Texas.   There, Jerry also enjoyed hobbies of flying his Cessna plane and fly-fishing at his Cabin in Pearl Lakes Trout Club Colorado.

He spent his career of almost 72 years drilling and producing wells in the Texas Panhandle with his Father and brother Dick and later with his own operating company.

Later in life Jerry enjoyed traveling the United States with Madeline and their dog in his motor home spending most winters with his friends at the Riverbend RV Resort in Ft Meyers Florida.

Jerry is survived by his spouse Madeline, and his children Robert Herrmann (Houston), Mike Herrmann (Houston), Stanley Herrmann (Amarillo), Connie Fain (Fredericksburg), Amy Herrmann (Dickenson, Tx), Susan Jones (Albany, Tx), Joe Herrmann (Houston), Paul Herrmann (Amarillo), Mary Herrmann (Houston), James Herrmann (Midland, Tx) and Kevin Herrmann (Midland, Tx) and his step children Carol Robinson (Amarillo), Judy Blevins (Amarillo), Vicky Coslett (Kingfisher OK), and Jacqueline Chesser (Denison, Tx) along with 44 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by; his parents,  his son, John David Herrmann,  his daughter, Jane Ann Herrmann, and his siblings Doris Downey, Jack Herrmann, Mary Lynn Rogers, Richard (Dick) Herrmann, Rita Ann Freeman and Gail Seelman.
