Jerry Bob Atkerson

Jerry “JB” Atkerson age 75 of Amarillo died Monday August 15, 2011.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday August 18, 2011 in Llano Cemetery with Msgr. Harold Waldow of St. Mary’s Cathedral Church officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
The family will receive friends Wednesday August 17, 2011 in the funeral home, from 6 to 8 pm.
Jerry was born in Commerce, Texas to Robert and Nanny Atkerson on May 22, 1936. Jerry was very proud of his time served in the United States Navy. He served three tours during Vietnam; while he was stationed in Australia he met and married Ann O’Sullivan on December 22, 1973. He retired from the Navy June 24, 1974. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and rebuilding muscle cars. He made many wonderful memories over his lifetime and will be missed by many.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Survived by his wife, Ann Atkerson; his brother, Onnie L. Atkerson of Amarillo; his three sisters, Helen Pommerenin of Duncanville, Texas, Joann Adams of Astoria, Oregon, and Shirley Reed of Dallas, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
