Jerry Floyd

Jerry Quitman Floyd, 80, of Claude TX, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM on Monday September 21st, at the Claude United Methodist Church in Claude, officiated by Rev. Janet Edwards of Abernathy and Rev. Sean Smith.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo.
Mr. Floyd was born in Naples TX on August 5, 1935.  He grew up in Spearman TX.  After high school, Mr. Floyd worked at his family's meat processing business, Floyd's Locker.  In 1963, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served for six years. After the Army he returned to the family business and subsequently joined the meat processing teaching staff at TSTI where he worked until 1978.  He then joined the teaching staff at Boys Ranch until he retired in 2002.   Mr. Floyd spent his retirement living with Shirley McGowan Floyd, his wife of 32 years, on a farm and ranch in Claude raising cattle.   Mr. Floyd was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Methodist church, and the American Legion.
Mr. Floyd is survived by;  his wife Shirley, a daughter Stephanie Galindo and husband Luis of Schertz TX,  a son Marty Karr and wife Liz of Tulsa OK,  a step-son Mike Thompson of Nampa ID, a step-daughter Tracy DeShazo and husband Ronnie of Dumas TX, a step-son Brad Thompson and wife Julie of Sugar Land TX,   and grandchildren; Brayden Karr,  Brady Davis, Lacee Johnston,  Riley DeShazo, Taylor DeShazo, Josh Thompson, Jake Thompson, Zach Thompson, and Jack Edward Thompson,  Alex Kaplan, Emily Kaplan and one great grandson, Nathan Thompson and a host of friends and extended family who loved him dearly.
A viewing will be held from 11:00am to 8:00pm Sunday, September 20th at Schooler Armstrong Chapel in Claude.  The family will be there to receive visitors later that day, from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at Schooler Armstrong Chapel in Claude.
Donations may be made to the Claude United Methodist Church and the Armstrong County Museum.
