Jerry Pat Kilburn

August 17, 1945 — June 22, 2023

Amarillo

Jerry Pat Kilburn passed away on June 22, 2023, at the age of 77 after a long, hard fought battle with

COPD. Jerry was born on August 17, 1945, to William David Kilburn and Marcella Sights Kilburn in

Clinton, OK.

Most of Jerry’s young life was spent in Clayton, NM. Jerry was a track & football star in high school. He met and married his first wife, Helen, in Clayton. They raised two amazing men: David and Brian.

Jerry married Rhealine Cheek Kilburn on September 30, 1981. Marrying Rhealine came with three beautiful daughters: Lisa, Leslie, and Cari. In 1982, Casey came along to complete the bunch.

Jerry was an incredibly hard worker. Often, he had more than one job at a time. He started working at the age of twelve. For many years, Jerry was the business manager at St. Anthony’s hospital. He owned Medical Insurance inquires where he helped people with Medicare and insurance. He bought and sold almost 2000 cars, because that was the only way to keep six new drivers rolling.

Jerry & Rhealine built a beautiful life over forty-two years of marriage. They loved to dance and travel.

Six children kept them busy. Jerry was a Kids Inc coach. He drove all over Amarillo to pick up boys for practice and games. There were lots of family adventures: water-skiing at the lake, camping, fishing in Arkansas and many summer vacations.

With six children, Jerry was also a teacher. He taught each one how to change a tire, water ski, rig a fishing pole, clean the fish they caught, pitch a tent, build a fence, plant a garden. He taught them to love exploring the great outdoors. One of the grandest family adventures was the ranch in Wellington.

Jerry jumped in with over 200 head of cattle. It was hard work and fun all at the same time. Lots of great memories were made there. Jerry & Rhealine had two special cows that were more like pets, Janie and

Kathy.

Jerry loved sports. Jerry is the reason that you can find reruns of past NFL Drafts on TV. He had a love/hate relationship with the Dallas Cowboys. He never missed a Cowboy game. His favorite games, however, were the ones he watched his kids and grandkids play. These were the games that brought him the most joy.

Jerry was big. He had a big, funny sense of humor, a bigger personality, and the biggest love for his family. He made each of us feel accepted and loved. You knew without a doubt that you were loved. He told you every time you talked and in every text message. You felt lucky to be in his family.

Jerry was greeted in heaven by his parents, William and Marcella, his older brother David Lee & his favorite aunt, Charlotte Frost.

Jerry will be terribly missed by his bride, Rhealine and his children: David Kilburn and wife Tracey, Brian Kilburn and wife Jennifer, Lisa Walsh and wife Shelly Williams, Leslie Johns, Cari Beebe and Casey Kilburn. Babo’s eleven grandkids: Jacey Kilburn Ferguson & husband Brady, Caz Kilburn, Rylea Kilburn, Kyla Kilburn, Kelsey Kilburn Davis & husband Dawson, Kallie Kilburn Huckabay & husband Ethan, Sydney Johns, Avery Johns King and husband Dalton, Rope Garcia & wife Kayla, Taylor Beebe and Blake Beebe; ten great grandchildren: Owen Cravy, Dani Cravy, Mack Massey, Brock Massey, Delta King, Indie King, Willow Kilburn, Barry Ferguson, Ryder Garcia  and Ava Kay Frisby. Plus, many sisters & brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
