Jerry King

July 9, 1948 — November 22, 2020

Jerry King of Amarillo, Texas passed away peacefully, painlessly and surrounded by loved ones on November 22, 2020.

Jerry was a member of the Tascosa High school Class of '66 and most adamantly a "Rebel".  He attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri obtaining his Bible degree and ordination into the Gospel Ministry.  He worked at Amarillo National Bank rising through various positions over the next 20 years before attending West Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Psychology in 1998 and a Master of Arts in Psychology in 2000.  He gained his Professional Licence Counseling certificate in 2002 and has partnered with PCBC in his private practice helping thousands of people and families throughout his career.

He was married to Rachael King from 1969 until her death in March of 2000.  He is survived by his spouse Bill Mays, his children Dyane Barnett (Jerry), David King, Shayne Mays (Leticia), and Brandie Green.  His legacy has been extended through his grandchildren Nathan Black (Cassie), Joshua Black (Sarah), Brendan King, Brooklynn King, Cody Green (Katie), Kaylee Mays, Tyler Mays, Trey Green, and his great grandchildren Kolton Black, Katlin Black, and Sam Black.  He will also be be greatly missed by his sister Dorinda Adren (Stephan) of College Station, nephew Chandler Arden (Jennifer) of College Station, Celeste Riley (Hayden) of College Station, Great Niece Jessie Adren of Bryan, Great nephew Chris Adren of Bryan, and great nephews Corbin Riley and Vaughn Riley of College Station.

His heart was so filled with love for people.  He spent his life trying to help people with their problems, troubles, and pain.  He was a minister, banker, teacher, and professional counselor for many years.  He touched many people's lives throughout the Amarillo area and it has rippled out to people all over the world.  He was generous not only with material things but with his time and love.

Services are pending but the family asks in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to Family Support Services of Amarillo.
