Jessie Lee McCutcheon Ivy passed away in her home February 15, 2022 at the age of 95 of natural causes.
Her family was near by with a grandson holding her hand. She lived her life from an early age as a Christian and follower of Christ. Mom was raised on a family farm in Hollis, Oklahoma. That is where her love of nature began. She could grow anything and her Amarillo home was a testament to her ability. There was no grass to mow. Mom filled the front and back yards with flowers, garden paths and hand made by dad bird houses. Her garden was her happy place. Neighbors and friends would often ask for her gardening advice and seeds. She continued gardening until late in her 80’s. Her faithful garden spade was buried with her. Mom was kind, sweet, quiet and loved everyone that crossed her path. She was a member at Central Church of Christ for almost 50 years. She and dad taught the second grade Bible class for 25 years. Her greatest joy was being a wife and mother.
She is survived by her children Miriam Ivy Prude (Randy) of Midland, Texas, Mona Ivy Lane (late husband Randy) Clermont, Florida, Monty Ivy (Deann) of Brenham,Texas. She has nine grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Mom was buried beside her beloved husband Henry Montgomery Ivy in Llano Cemetery under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a place mom supported, High Plains Children’s Home PO Box 7448 Amarillo, Texas 79114.
