Jesus Manuel Gonzalez, 32, of Amarillo died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. today in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 701 Quail Creek Drive, with Fernando Hurtado officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Chuma, as he was known by many, was born Feb. 6, 1977, in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Jesus Manuel and Maria Gonzalez. He married Astrid Pepi on July 25, 1998, in Amarillo and to their union a son, Jared Lamec Gonzalez, was born, whom he loved dearly. Chuma will be remembered for his incomparable qualities of giving and helping others. He was a very loving, humble and charismatic person. He possessed a personality that attracted many to him. He demonstrated an unparalleled ability to accomplish anything he put his mind to do, therefore was known to many as a jack-of-all-trades. His hobbies were snowboarding and spending time with his family and members of his congregation. From his study of the Bible, Chuma came to know our wonderful creator and thus dedicated his life in baptism on May 4, 1991, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was an active member of the Southwest Spanish Congregation of Amarillo, where he was dearly loved and appreciated by everyone. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jasania Gonzalez. Survivors include his wife, Astrid; a son, Jared Lamec of Amarillo; his parents, Jesus Manuel Sr. and Maria Gonzalez of Amarillo; a brother, Edgar of Chihuahua; two sisters, Johanna and Jael Gonzalez, both of Amarillo; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
