Jewel Sherburn, 97, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in Amarillo, Texas.
The family will have services at a later date in South Dakota. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.
Jewel was born May 29, 1915, in a covered wagon in South Dakota, one of 12 children to William and Grace Patterson. She has been a resident of Amarillo for two years, having lived most of her life in Hill City, South Dakota.
She was a loving mother. Jewel had the gift of hospitality, and her home was open to everyone.
The family would like to thank Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice for their love, support, and care of Jewel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Sherburn; and two sons, William and Donald Sherburn.
Survivors include two daughters, Jacqueline Godwin and husband, Phillip of Amarillo, Janet Epperly of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three sisters, Dorothy Kline of Novato, California, Evelyn Frank and husband, Joe of Billings, Montana, Shari Wood of Eugene, Oregon; one brother, Gordon Patterson of Gillette, Wyoming; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
