Jimmy Clinton Dodgin 81, formerly of Amarillo passed away April 23, 2015.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel with Mr. Max McClendon of Church of Christ Church in Shamrock officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home 4100 S. Georgia St.
Jimmy Clinton Dodgin was born July 19, 1933 in Nocona, Texas to Elmer Clinton and Vera Browning Dodgin. He passed away April 23, 2015 in Grapevine Texas. He was well loved and respected during his 81 years on earth. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ where his booming, bass voice was regularly heard. Jim graduated from Canyon High School and attended Texas Tech University. He was talented in various endeavors but always returned to his love of farming and ranching. He was a mechanic, home builder, security officer and motel manager, among other occupations. He later received his Associate’s Degree from Amarillo College and worked as a respiratory therapist. His volunteer activities included working with the Lions Club and Kiwanas which led to interesting part-time work as Santa Claus and talent scout at the town Carnivals. Prior to retirement he lived in Shamrock Texas where he returned to farming. His last role was as chief gentleman at the Isle of Watermere Memory Care unit, where he charmed the staff and residents both young and old.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill A. Dodgin.
Survivors include daughter Cam and husband Kevin Brandt of Keller, TX, and daughter Carri and husband Bill Gutknecht of Plano, TX. His grandchildren are Clint Brandt, Calli and Lain Gutknecht. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Sue Dodgin of Amarillo, TX, Doylene Dodgin Lee and her husband Bill Lee of Lewisville, TX, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
