Jimmy Dale McGill, 62, of Wellington, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022.
Born in Wellington, Texas January 10, 1960, he was the son of Helen J. McGill and the late Raymond V. McGill. Jimmy was a Canyon High School graduate. As a young man, Jimmy was a building contractor, building homes and doing remodel work around Canyon and Amarillo. In the last few years, he lived a simple life, farming and raising cattle on the family farm near Wellington, which he called home.
In his younger days, Jimmy enjoyed skiing in New Mexico and Colorado. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed all sports. Jimmy had a passion for boating and fishing and spent time in Florida fishing the Flats of the Gulf of Mexico for Redfish. He was an animal lover and lived with many cats and his beloved dogs.
He is survived by his mother, Helen McGill; sister Terri McGill Starkey and her husband Jesse; his niece Amanda Parks and her husband Everett and their daughters, Riley, Cami, Bodi, and granddaughter Mavis; his nephew Jason Harper, niece Lacey and her husband Jonathan and their daughter, Jessenia. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond V. McGill and brother, Jerry Dalton McGill.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2022, at North Fairview Cemetery, 15th Street (FM 338), Wellington, Texas, with Dr. Jim Smith officiating.
Friends and acquaintances are invited to meet with family for the visitation at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo between 5:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M on Friday, September 30, 2022.
