Jim was born July 5, 1943 in Artesia, NM. He married the love of his life, Johanna Dekarski in 1975. Jim proudly served in the United States Marine Corp and also a minister in his church until he retired. Jim also worked in the oil field, drove long haul trucks coast to coast and worked as a mechanic. Before retiring, Jim worked for the City of Amarillo for several years as a SPEC Trans driver. Putting the needs of people that he serves above the city regulations often put Jim at odds with authority. Jim was recognized for his service with the special needs community of Amarillo, he went above and beyond by helping meet the needs of his passengers.
He would never turn anyone down if they needed help. Jim never met a stranger, just friends he hadn’t met yet. Jim had a kind word for everyone he met. The most important role in his life was being a grandfather, he loved him grandchildren more than anything.
Jim is survived by his wife; six children; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
