Joan L Sanders, 78, of Amarillo died October 29, 2011.
Memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Celebrant will be MSGR Joseph Tash. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S Georgia.
Joan was born on December 1, 1932 to John and Genevieve Britten in Groom, TX. She met Ray in 1951 on Polk Street while he was stationed at the Air Force Base and they married in 1952 in Amarillo. She was a self-taught seamstress and loved to garden. She was a member of St Thomas the Apostle Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Jim Britten and Robert Britten, sister, Pauline Britten; and Grandson, David Glasscock.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Sanders; three daughters, Teri Sanders of Ft. Worth, Debi J. Glasscock and husband Richard D. of Paducah, Kentucky, and Vicki Sanders Lewis and husband Mike of Ft Worth; son, Mike Sanders and wife Tina of Amarillo; and two grandchildren, Devin Lewis of Austin, TX and Chance Sanders of Amarillo.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
