Joanne K. Miller

Joanne Knight Miller, 93, of Amarillo passed away April 26, 2018.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Joanne was born September 24, 1924 in Vera, Texas to Jesse and Elizabeth Boone Knight. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Seymore, Texas. She graduated from high school in 1941.

Joanne moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where she attended Draughon’s Business College. During this time, she took a trip to Seaside, Oregon and Seattle, Washington with her cousin. While looking for a job in Seattle, she met and married Paul V. Spain. Paul was deployed with the military after they married, so Joanne returned to Seymore where she had their first child, Elisa. She and Paul divorced.

Later, Joanne met Earl Miller and they married in Lovington, N.M. Together they had 5 children. After being married 35 years, Earl passed away.

Joanne is survived by children, Elisa McKenzi of Federal Way, WA, Joe Miller and wife Jeanne of Amarillo, Susan Moll and husband Jim of Midland, Ray Miller and wife Judy of Amarillo, Janis Mendiola and husband Mike of Ft. Worth, and Renee Gerdes and wife Christi of Ft. Worth; sister, Nell Nelson; and 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 10 great great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
