Joe Neal Ivy, 86, of Amarillo passed away on October 3, 2022.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 6pm to 7:30pm at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia in Amarillo. Funeral Services will take place at 11am on Friday, October 7, 2022 in the Schooler Funeral Home’s Brentwood Chapel. A private family committal will follow.
Joe was born July 22, 1936 in Vega, Texas to Glen and Lois (Voyles) Ivy. He was a 1955 graduate of Amarillo High School and attended one year at West Texas A&M majoring in engineering. Joe was a member of the Methodist Church for many years.
By trade, Joe was a postal employee who served as a mail courier. He delivered mail and worked in other parts of the USPS for more than three decades and finally “retired” in 1991 after 36 years of dedicated service. But this was not Joe’s only career. Partnering with his brother Bill, they ran the Ivy Grapevine Ranch together for 40years.
Joe was a member of the New Mexico Race Horse Association where he owned and ran race horses.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather John Farr, brother Bill Glenn Ivy, and his late wife Suzanne Ivy. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Victoria “Vicki” Ivy whom he exchanged vows with in 2017 in Las Vegas, daughters Melinda Kay Ivy-Switzer, Michelle Renee Ivy-Norman, and JoLynn Ivy, sister Sue Buescher, brother Mack Farr; and grandchildren Jeramy, Jordan, Journi, Torri, Colten, Shylah, Gracie, Brynlee, and Clay, and great-grandchildren Major, Caison, Xavier, Jaxsten, Blayden, and Mahlyah.
