A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday February 22, 2011 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Rev Michael Caldwell as the celebrant.  Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday February 21, 2011 in Brentwood Chapel, Schooler Funeral Home.  Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Stinnett Cemetery, Stinnett, Texas.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.Joe graduated from Stinnett High School in 1967.  He attended West Texas State University for 2 years.  He married Chris in 1970.  He made his home in Amarillo for 39 years after serving his country in the Army.  He made his living in the flooring industry.  He loved golfing, sports and was an avid Texas Longhorn fan.  He was a member of St. Thomas Church.  His family was most important and he was a loving husband, father, brother, son and grandfather.He is preceded in death by his father, Earl P Shields and brother Mike Shields.Survivors include his wife, daughter, Lisa Shields Reed and her husband Robert of Amarillo; son, Mike Shields and wife Jennifer of New Braunfels, Texas; sister, Ann Shields Hamilton and husband Steve of Magnolia, Texas; his mother, Glennis Shields of Amarillo; grandchildren, Baileigh Shields, Camden Shields, Weston Shields, and Braxton Reed.Memorials may be made to Harrington Cancer Center or Odyssey Hospice.
