BIOGRAPHY: John R. Curbo, Jr., 56 of Amarillo, left to be with the Lord Friday, October 1, 2010.Funeral Services to celebrate and honor his life will be 10:00AM, Tuesday, October 5, 2010 in Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Mantooth officiating. Private family interment will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.Johnny Curbo was born on January 22, 1954 in McCroy, Arkansas to John R. Curbo, Sr. and Alma Curbo-Richesin. He Graduated from Dumas High School and received a certificate for heating and air conditioning from Amarillo College and worked for West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. Johnny was a loving and devoted family man and friend. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and the company of his friends. He enjoyed working on his mustang which he restored to top condition. He had a passion for playing his guitar with other musicians. Johnny was part of a band called Shady Alley. He will be remembered for his kind spirit, his thoughtfulness, his willingness to always help others and his unique sense of humor.Johnny was preceded in death by his father, John R. Curbo, Sr., brother, Dennis Curbo, and his aunt Theresa Etheridge of Dumas, Texas.Survivors include his wife, Julie Curbo of the home, son John Curbo of Amarillo, Grandson, Colton Curbo of Amarillo and his mother Alma Richesin of Quitman, Arkansas, nephews Wesley Curbo of Dumas, Texas, Wyatt Curbo of Dumas, Texas, great niece, Brenli Curbo of Dumas, Texas, Aunt Helen Gipson of Arkansas, cousins Steven Gipson M.D. of Arkansas, Manuel Gipson of Arkansas, Lisa Ayers of Arkansas, Jessica Ayers of Austin, Texas Miranda Ayers of Kentucky.
