John S. Gray age 74 of Amarillo died October 5, 2016.
Graveside Services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 10th at Llano Cemetery. Terrie Campbell, Chaplain of BSA Hospice Care of the Southwest will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
John was born November 14, 1941 in Portales, NM to H.M. and Vada Gray. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1961. On December 27, 1964 John married his love, Ro Ann Foster in Amarillo. The two were married for forty nine years at the time of RoAnn’s death in 2014.
John worked for ACCO Feeds/Cargill for over thirty five years until his retirement in 2005. He had a love for horse racing and for all animals in general. Perhaps his biggest love was that which he had for his family and friends. He cherished the time he spent with them.
In 2009 John started attending Jan Werner Adult Day Care where he formed many friendships; he continued going there until March of this year. The family would like to express their gratitude for the care John received from Accolade Home Health Care over the past ten years.
John was preceded in death by his wife and three brothers, Bud, James and H.M. Gray.
He is survived by his daughter, Tonja Helton and husband Byron of Amarillo; sister, Pearl Gray of Abilene, TX; a brother, Bill Gray and his wife Connie of Tularosa, NM; his brother-in-law Thomas Foster and wife, Nora of Timberon, NM; his granddaughter, Victoria Helton; and special friends, Roy and Cindee Shedenhelm of Amarillo.
