John Joseph Miller, age 85 died February 17th in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 am on March 19, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 715 N. Lapeer Road, in Lake Orion, Michigan. Simultaneously, an inurnment service will be held 11:00 am on March 19, 2016 at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood , Florida. Local arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.
John was born March 27, 1930 to Robert and Annie Kenny Miller in Royal Oak, MI. He served in the United States Navy in Europe during the Korean Conflict. Once his military service was complete he returned home where he married Marilyn Agnes MacMillan in 1958, and graduated from Wayne State University with his MBA.
He worked for Chrysler in NASA at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama until 1971 when the family returned to Michigan, settling in Oxford. In 1987 John retired from Chrysler and he and Marilyn moved to Florida. After almost 50 years of marriage, Marilyn died on June 9, 2007.
In 2011 John moved to Ussery Roan Texas State Veteran’s Home where he resided until his death.
John was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, James and Robert Miller; two sisters, Ruth Miller Dewe and Mary Miller Hunter; by a son Keith Miller; and two grandchildren Mikaela Miller and Jonathan Miller.
He is survived by four sons, Kevin Michael Miller and his wife Jeannine of Buffalo, Jeffrey Thomas Miller and his wife Emily of San Antonio, David John Miller and his wife Wendy of Columbiaville, and Scott Duncan Miller and his wife Elisia of Amarillo; two sisters, Cathy Miller Allan and Agnes “Terry” Miller Paridikes; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials be made to the Jonathan “J-Mill” Miller Scholarship and Non-Profit Fund, 744 Curtis Court, Lewiston, NY 14092.
