Johnnie Lou Branch age 76 of Amarillo, died October 27, 2013 in Amarillo.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday (location to be determined) with Rev. John Ayers officiating from Hobbs, New Mexico. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Johnnie Lou was born in Dodson, Texas on December 14, 1936 to John Harden and Opal Marie Baird. She graduated as valedictorian from Dodson High School in 1954. On September 3, 1955 she married the love of her life, Billy Ray Branch in Wellington, Texas.
She worked in retail for over thirty years at Colbert's and Dillard's, retiring from Dillard's in 2002.
Johnnie's life revolved around her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whether attending a sporting event or another activity, she cherished time spent with each of them.
She was passionate about reading and even enjoyed watching the occasional old western movie. Johnnie had a particular fondness for red birds but enjoyed watching all types.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998 and two sisters, Verna Mae and Sarah.
Survivors include her two daughters, Diann Wright and husband Scott and Mary Moore and husband Darryl; her son Randy Branch and wife Jacque all of Amarillo; one sister, Shirley Ayers of Hobbs, New Mexico; one brother, Vernon Baird of Oklahoma CIty, OK; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
