Johnnie Preston Rogers Jr.

March 10, 1932 — May 11, 2010

A Celebration of Life service will be held in the First Christian Church of Booker, TX Friday, May 14th at 2:00 pm.   Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, TX. J.P. Rogers, Jr. formerly of Booker, TX and Clayton, NM passed away peacefully in his sleep May 11, 2010 at the Country Club Nursing and Rehabilitation facility in Amarillo, TX. He was born March 10, 1932 in Centralia, Oklahoma to Johnnie and Leola Rogers Owens.   J.P. enjoyed a successful high school athletic career in Darrouzett, TX.  After high school he joined the US Marine Corps, and will always be remembered as a Proud Marine serving his country.  J.P. was a man of many talents who loved to fly and was most at peace in his Piper Pawnee spraying crops and pastures over the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles.   He was an avid hunter and fisherman who truly loved being in the field or the woods stalking game with family or friends.He is proceeded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Leola; a sister, June Flynt  and step son Tony Burnett.Survivors include his loving wife, Marie of Amarillo, TX; one son Johnnie Rogers (Marilyn) of Rock Hill, SC and a step daughter, Rhonda Green (Bobby) of Clayton, New Mexico; his  grandchildren: Patrick Rogers (Leigh) of Charlotte, NC, Reed Rogers of Rock Hill, SC, Krystal Alvidrez (Victor) of Las Cruces, NM, Stryker Green of Clayton, NM and Kayla Grice (John) of Clayton, NM,  Natalia Burnett of Tuscumbia, AL, Christina Burnett of Tuscumbia, AL, and Colt McCargish of Perryton, TX; and his four great - grandchildren and one sister Joyce Mills (Eugene) of Booker, TX.
