Mr. John Paul Hawks, age 89 of Bogata died Saturday April 18 in Paris.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 30, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo. His grandson, Isaac Hawks will officiate.
Mr. Hawks (Johnny or John Paul as some knew him) was born October 10, 1925 in Rugby Texas the son of Cluster and Hattie Ann Stephenson Hawks. He was preceded in death by his first wife the former Lily Maxine Weems in April 1985. He owned and operated a restaurant in Amarillo for a number of years, belonged to Kiva Drum Corp in Amarillo and was a mason for over 50 years. He established Firehawk safety systems. He was an enthusiastic Trail Horse Rider and blazed many Trails. Upon his retirement he moved to Bogata where he raised beautiful Fox Trotter horses.
He is survived by three children Diann Hawks Grayson of Idalou, Texas, Stephen (Pete) Hawks of Tularosa New Mexico, now residing in Bogata and Mary Hawks Head of Amarillo, seven grandchildren: Traci, Jimmy, Dana, Isaac, Stephanie, Michael and Loy as well as a number of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
