Johnny was born April 23, 1974 in Muleshoe, Texas to Lino and Olefia Cortez Martinez. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator at Holmes Construction. He met Rebecca Hernandez and they married on March 3, 2006. Johnny and Becky were members of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband and father. He had many friends, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Becky; his daughters Shelby and Sophia Alvarez; his sisters, Amy Martinez and Dorothy Moctezuma and husband Viviano; his brothers, San Augustine and David Martinez, all of Canyon; his parents, Lino and Olefia Martinez; extended family, Joel and Linda Lopez of Amarillo, Mary Anne and Manuel Jimenez of Olton, Gloria and Engleberto Bugarin of Amarillo, Matias and Juanita Hernandez of Easter, Carlos Pineda of Canyon, Matt Hernandez and Darlene Medeles of Clovis, NM, Mary Cortez of Progresso, TX, Vicente and Jose Cortez, both of Muleshoe, Janie Vasquez of Hereford, Jose and Rose Cuellas of Canyon, and a very large extended family.
